About
What is Virginia Tech Advantage?
Virginia Tech Advantage is a universitywide, multiyear commitment to offer a broad educational experience to undergraduate students from Virginia who have financial need.
As a reflection of our land-grant mission and our university motto of Ut Prosim (That I May Serve), the initiative will provide a significant amount of new scholarship dollars to reduce unmet financial need and increase support for students’ basic needs, career preparation, and transformational learning experiences.
Why it matters
Offering a rich and full educational experience to all our Virginia students, including those with financial need, is a foundational part of our land-grant mission. We must offer this support to continue being a destination for talent.
What Virginia Tech Advantage will do

- Increase emergency funds available to students to avert circumstances that may otherwise limit their ability to make progress toward their degree.
Resources for career preparation

- Offset the hidden costs of internships.
- Enhance mentoring and advising.
Transformational learning experiences
- Provide study abroad, on- and off-campus undergraduate research, and summer experiences.
